About Us
I am Lucy Damkoehler, chef-owner.

I grew up in Bernardston, Massachusetts. My love for baking started at a young age, spending early weekend mornings baking bread with my father. The day I turned 16, I started working at a local bakery (Elm Farm Bakery and Deli in Deerfield) and began my culinary journey. My father woke up at 5 am to drive me 20 miles to work every weekend through high school.
At age 18, I left the nest to pursue my dream of attending culinary school. After earning a degree from the New England Culinary Institute in VT, I moved to NYC to work under Claudia Fleming at Gramercy Tavern. I traveled the world working in kitchens from Hawaii to Austria. I eventually settled in Seattle, WA, where I spent 12 years building my reputation as an industry leader. In 2011, Seattle Magazine recognized me as one of the new Tastemakers, and The Stranger Newspaper called me a Dessert Genius. I have had amazing opportunities to learn and grow my career, including working as the Regional Pastry Chef at Bon Appetit Management Company, assisting in the opening of Hot Cakes Molten Chocolate Cakery and teaching cooking classes at Blue Ribbon Cooking School and Whisk.

Twenty years after falling in love with baking alongside my father, I have returned to the nest to make one of my own—in the very town where I was raised. The story of Sweet Lucy’s Bakeshop begins!
